I enjoyed this post. You’re right about a gentle pop-up after some time of reading. I don’t see the point of a pop straightaway and blocking the post.

So far I my opt- ins have been static except over the past week where I’m having a book giveaway. I tried putting a pop-up to remind any visitor/ reader or the closing date as my giveaway structure didn’t work well with the Rafflecopter interface/ Goviral. So I don’t have all the fancy countdown gizmo.

Great insight on making the lingo on the forms more conversational and out-of the-box..Will look into that.

In reply to Janis Cox. Thank you, Janis! :) Yes, that's why I love the slide-in compared to other types of pop-ups. It's much less intrusive to the reading experience. I am using MailerLite, and they offer the slide-in pop-up.

Oh Nicole,
Too funny… I must read slower as I passed the point of “have you seen it pop up”. I have kept myself from putting pop ups on my blog because I HATE them. I just get reading and there it is over my screen and some are hard to find a way to get rid of them.
This is an excellent idea.
1. How do I get it to go to the bottom – discretely.
2. What email server do you use?
Yes I signed up. Too funny.
